| Slydog Inc. has developed a ski that uses SNOW INDUCTION to increase cornering grip and side hilling capability, as well as provide superior floatation in deep snow and remove darting tendencies. Snow Induction and compression is achieved with the combination of the reverse angle keel and the channels in the ski bottom, which are more open in the front of the ski and narrow as they run to the rear of the keel.
The Technology: With Slydog Skis, moving forward compresses the snow against the rear of each side of the keel forming solid rails of packed snow. With the majority of the compression acting behind the spindle, the spindle is allowed to lead so the tail of the ski follows smoothly, reducing the darting effect. This is the most important feature of these skis that sets them apart from all of the others on the market, including twin runner tunnel skis and your conventional factory plastic single keel skis. The front of a typical ski shapes the incoming snow and the rest of the ski follows in it's path. If different densities of snow are on the surface you are driving on, the front of your ski will follow the path of least resistance, as it is easier to shape snow that is already packed into a similar pattern. Usually this means falling into other ski's tracks, which of course translates into a darting issues. You could reduce these effects by transferring more of the weight bias to the rear of your sled, but only to the point that you still need to be able to steer the sled. This reduction in cornering grip would lead to a dangerous condition. Some sleds, like many 4 stroke models and rider forward designs, can only transfer so much of the weight to the rear of the machine due to the position of the rider and the engine. With the Slydog skis, you can run a sled with less weight transferred to the skis and still maintain cornering without having to use as much carbide. You will still have unbelievable accuracy and hold a tighter, more true arc in a corner due to the snow compression. The more weight transferred to the skis the heavier the steering gets with any ski, but with the Slydogs, more output will be transmitted through the ski into the compressed snow resulting in less choppy steering through corners and less rider fatigue on the straights.
